Sir/ Madam, Greetings!
We are extremely delighted to invite you to the National Seminar on “Contemporary Issues in Higher Education” during MUTA III Academic Conference on September 26, 2015 at Sree Ayyappa College for Women, Chunkankadai, Kanyakumari District.
About MUTA
MUTA is an association of University and College teachers started in 1970. It has been championing the cause of higher education in Tamil Nadu right from its inception. MUTA has been striving to democratise the college and University governance and it has a long way to go to achieve the goal. MUTA is voicing the grievances of teachers, students and the public. Besides these, the association has been organizing seminars, conferences, on Higher Educational issues and conducting NET/SET free coaching classes.
Theme of the Seminar
Major paradigm shifts have occurred in Government of India's higher education policy, in the post reform period. The reform measures of the Government of India shirked its responsibilities in providing higher education to the people. At present the higher education is completely commercialised and commoditised. As a result the opportunity for socially and educationally backward sections of the society is belied, refused and the social justice is challenged. The commercialisation of education results in social exclusion, insensitivity and inequality. The central and state Governments have been drastically reducing the funds for higher education.
In this context, the present seminar intends to discuss and deliberate on all the challenges that confront higher education. The main mission of the conference is to focus the lacunae in higher education and to find out the ways and means to provide qualitative, inclusive and equitable Higher Education to all sections of the society.
